Thanks for the patience while we build. Site is experiencing a dark night of the soul
Reiki is a technique founded by Mikao Usui in the 1920s that uses "universal energy", (sometimes referred to as "life force energy") to aid in the self -healing of both physical and emotional imbalances. This technique is not meant to take the place of medical or emotional treatments, including, but not limited to diagnosis, treatment or cure of imbalances/illness.
What in the Hippie Dippie is a Reiki Session?
At face value, the client lies on a massage table with their eyes closed, while the practitioner places their hands over the client's body.
Under the surface, the Reiki practitioner will channel the universal energy, via hovering their hands over the client. During the session the practitioner will note, sense, and target those areas that signal an imbalance. It is important to understand that while the practitioner is in your physical presence, the real work is being done behind the scenes. The practitioner is merely directing the universal energy that is being provided for the client's highest and best good. Even if you don't get down with all of the new aged woo woo behind it, Reiki is also a great relaxation and stress relieving method.
Below are some things to be mindful of regarding your session.
Before Session Care:
* Relax and get comfortable. Wear comfortable looser fitting clothes; think lounge wear.
* It is recommended that you are properly hydrated, drink plenty of water.... but also, keep in mind that you will be lying flat for 30 minutes to an hour depending on your session...just sayin.
* Avoid heavy meals (including red meat), sugar, caffeine (as much as that pains me to say), cigarettes/vape, and alcohol before your session to enhance the experience. Your etherical body is essentially detoxing. But honestly, too much of any of these is just a good all-around practice to limit. You will still receive the benefits of Reiki.
*The session is for your healing! We will take a minute to do a quick consult to see what you are looking to get out of the session. Do not be afraid to communicate how you are feeling.
During a Session:
It is important to note that each client's experience is as unique as you are. The Reiki energy knows exactly what you need, even if you do not fully know what it is that you need. Here is where it gets fun, but there few things to note:
* If you need to stop the session, we will do so immediately.
You may experience some of these effects, or you may feel nothing at all:
-Sensations in your body (pressure, tightness, tingling, pulsing, buzzing, muscle twitching, temperature change, even rumbling of the stomach)
-Visualizations (including colors & symbols)
-Meditative state or floating sensation (some even fall asleep; this is ok too)
-Emotional release (laughing, crying, even anger) just note any feelings that come up, but don't judge the feel.
Don't be embarrassed, let it happen. It means you are healing!
After a Session:
You may not feel any different after your session. On the flipside, you might be going through it for a few days.
It is important to just note any feelings that come up, not judge them. Drink plenty of water and eat a healthy meal after your session and be sure to get extra rest. Take it easy for the first 24 hours. Take mindful inventory of your experience.
You may experience some or none of these effects after your session:
-Emotional sensitivity
-Fatigue (including flu like symptoms)9+
-Headache
-Physical symptoms
-Digestive responses
-Changes in sleep patterns
-Change in appetite
